Meet Misty,

Misty holds a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology with a minor in National Nonprofit Management and is a certified teacher. She has spent years serving her community through nonprofit and public service work, always leading with patience, purpose, and compassion.

After becoming a mother in 2021, Misty discovered a deep passion for alternative education. She earned her Montessori certification and, as a Montessori and VPK Lead Teacher, found joy in helping children learn through curiosity, movement, and connection.

Founding Lighthouse Learners grew from her belief that education should adapt to the child, not the other way around. She created a small, multi-age microschool where learning feels calm, supportive, and inspired by each child’s strengths.

Misty’s passion for education is both personal and professional; she is dedicated to creating the kind of non-traditional learning environment she wants for her own son, where children are seen, supported, and inspired to love learning.
